Man due in court after nurse was stabbed at Hillmorton Hospital in Christchurch

A man is due in court today after a nurse was allegedly stabbed at Hillmorton Hospital in Christchurch, the second alleged attack on staff in the facility in less than a week.

The nurse was allegedly assaulted while working yesterday.

Last week, a nurse suffered burns that will scar her for life after she had boiling water thrown on her by a patient.

Following the attacks, WorkSafe has not opened a formal investigation into the incidents but is seeking an urgent meeting with the Canterbury District Health Board, saying risk management at the hospital is not at an acceptable level.

It must be improved immediately under the Health and Safety at Work Act, a WorkSafe spokesperson said.
