Pictures are emerging across social media of the devastating effects of the earthquake which struck Alaska yesterday.
Aftershocks are the biggest concern for health and safety authorities after the 7.0 magnitude quake shook the state at about 8:30am local time.
Pictures of the devastation show shattered roads, shop windows and aisles of retail stores littered with stock which hit the floor.
Anchorage, where the quake was centred, is the largest city in the state of Alaska and has had three fires following the disaster but there were no fatalities local police say.
There have been no reported deaths from the earthquake.
