One person dead after avalanche on Aoraki Mount Cook

One person has died after an avalanche on Mount Cook.

Police say the avalanche occurred at about 1:30pm and involved three trampers.

A second person has minor injuries and has been transported to Twizel for medical treatment.

The third person was uninjured.

Police remain on the scene.
