Pedestrian hit by truck, killed in Timaru

A pedestrian on a Timaru stretch of State Highway 1 was killed this morning after being hit by a truck.

The person died at the scene, south of Rangitata, at around 9.50am, police said.

The highway is now closed, with diversions in place.
