MP Jami-Lee Ross will not be returning to Parliament before Christmas.
The independent MP told 1 NEWS he returned to his office in Parliament yesterday while he was in Wellington "for other reasons", and collected keys and some belongings.
Mr Ross said he was not returning "this side of Christmas" due to medical advice.
The Botany MP had made his first public appearance last week since being admitted to hospital for mental health care, attending the opening of Middlemore Hospital's new 38-bed mental health unit, Tiaho Mai.
Mr Ross was admitted for a time last month after a tumultuous week in New Zealand politics.
Mr Ross has been in leave on what he said was medical advice, with New Zealand First accepting his proxy vote.
