Two people killed after two-vehicle crash in Tokoroa

Two people have died and two people are injured following a two-vehicle crash on State Highway One near Ohakuri, south of Tokoroa.

The status of the two injured people was confirmed by police this evening.

One person has been critically injured, while the other has been seriously injured in the incident, which occurred shortly after 5pm. 

State Highway 1 is closed and traffic management is being put in place.

Diversions are in place and motorists are being asked to avoid the area.

The Serious Crash Unit is investigating.
