People who stopped to help in the wake of a crash near Tokoroa that left two people dead and three injured provided blankets and clothing to help the victims, police say.
The two-vehicle crash took place on State Highway 1 south of Tokoroa shortly after 5pm.
Police are appealing for any witnesses to the crash to come forward.
They wanted to thank members of the public stopped to help in the immediate aftermath.
Some of them provided blankets and clothing to victims.
They are asked to contact Taupo police if they want their belongings back.
The cause of the crash is still being investigated.
