Six people hospitalised following Auckland marathon

At least six people have been hospitalised during this morning's Auckland Marathon.

Thousands turned out to take part in the annual marathon from the North Shore to the central city this morning.

Organisers say six runners who took part in the early morning race were taken to hospital.

It's unknown the reason for the admissions, but one was believed to be in a critical condition.

They are all said to be in a stable condition.

“We have no further details at this time on the six (unrelated) incidents and will continue to offer the athletes our support," says Auckland Marathon race organisers said this morning.
