Most Kiwis use sport as a way to let their competitive side run wild, whether it be on a rugby field, on a netball court, or at the beach with a bat and ball.

But hundreds of women up and down the country are hooked on a sport where "winning" isn't about coming first on the field.

While marching itself began as an amateur sport here in New Zealand in the 1940s, it wasn’t until the early 1990s that a fun, light-hearted adaptation stepped onto the scene.

Seven Sharp reporter Rebecca Edwards went and got a peek into the colourful world of leisure marching.
