Location of six new Auckland red light cameras revealed

October 1, 2018

New red light cameras have caught Auckland motorists running red lights 30 times a day on average over two and a half months.

Six new red light camera have been added today, in addition to the current batch of six that were already installed.

Those cameras issued 2,314 infringements between June 21 and September 7 this year.

Mayor Phil Goff says: "There is a culture among some drivers that red lights don't matter and can be ignored.

"That is blatantly wrong and puts the safety of others on the road at risk"

Road safety improvements are set to see a $700 million investment over ten years, which is to be partially funded by the Regional Fuel Tax.

The new camera locations:

Great South Road and Cavendish Drive – two sites.

Te Irirangi Drive and Accent Drive – two sites.

Great North Road and Rata Street.

Great South Road and Reagan Road.
