Attempted kick at Kiwis centre 'a bit of a brain fart', says Cameron Munster

October 1, 2018

Melbourne Storm five-eighth Cameron Munster has apologised for his kick at Roosters and Kiwis centre Joseph Manu, in his side's NRL grand final defeat last night.

Munster, 24, was sent to the sin-bin twice in the Roosters' 21-6 win, with the second seeing him placed on report, lashing out at Manu while attempting to play the ball.

Subsequent punishment could see Munster ruled out of representing the Kangaroos against New Zealand and Tonga in this year's international window.

Speaking to reporters outside the Storm team hotel this morning though, Munster said he was unreservedly sorry for his actions.

"I was obviously frustrated and it was a bit of a brain fart, but in saying that I really can't explain what happened," he said.

"I'm really sorry for what happened but I just don't want to be known like that. I said sorry to Manu after the game and I know there's going to be a lot of keyboard warriors saying some stuff to me but I'm not like that.

"I've just got to go back to the drawing board and be a little bit better with some of the stuff I did last night."

Even with an early guilty plea, Munster will miss at least one match thanks to accruing 200 demerit points throughout the season.
