Police say speed, alcohol were factors in brutal four-car crash in South Auckland

Several people have been injured, one seriously, after a four-car crash in South Auckland last night.

One car was on fire after the incident at an intersection on Roscommon Road, near Cavendish Drive, Wiri, just after 10pm.

A number of people received minor injuries following the incident. One person who was seriously injured in the crash was treated by ambulance staff.

Manurewa Road Policing Acting Sergeant Jeremy Popping told 1 NEWS, "Early indications are that speed and alcohol are factors in this crash, which is very disappointing".

The traffic lights were also damaged in the incident.
