The Warriors' long awaited return to the NRL finals hasn't gone unnoticed, with captain-coach duo Roger Tuivasa-Sheck and Stephen Kearney voted the best in the competition by fans.

In a poll from NRL.com which saw more than 40,000 have their say, the Warriors' brains trust came out favorably.

NRL chief writer Brad Walter wasted no time in his appraisal of the Warriors' duo, as the club prepares for their first tilt at the finals series since losing the 2011 Grand Final to the Manly Sea Eagles.

Responding to who has been the best player of 2018, Walter writes that Tuivasa-Sheck has been a class above the competition this season.

"The Warriors captain is a major reason for his team making the finals for the first time in seven years, leading the NRL for metres from kick returns per game (59.75m), being fourth for all run metres (186.63mpg), making 13 tackle breaks, 111 line breaks and producing eight try assists."

As for the best coach of the year, Walter is also complimentary towards Stephen Kearney, having turned the Warriors' fortunes around, following a club record losing streak to finish 2017.

"Under Kearney's guidance the Warriors have been a much more consistent and durable team than in previous seasons, as evidenced by the number of games they managed to win in the absence of big names stars such as Shaun Johnson."

The Warriors will next be in action when the NRL finals begin against the Penrith Panthers at Sydney's ANZ Stadium on Saturday night.
