Five robbers, armed with a crowbar and a tomahawk, held up a service station on Christchurch's northern outskirts overnight.
Police have released CCTV photos as they hunt those involved in the aggravated robbery of the Caltex service station on Main North Road at Redwood.
Five offenders entered the service station shortly after midnight and demanded cash and cigarettes.
Two of them were armed - one with a crowbar, and one with a tomahawk.
Fortunately nobody was seriously injured in the incident, police say.
The images show the offenders and the car used, which was later found abandoned.
At least three of the robbers were wearing “Starter” caps with the silver sticker label on the peak.
