Otago have come from behind to post a massive win over Manawatu in this afternoon's Mitre 10 Cup clash, winning the contest in Palmerston North 50-17.
The visitors trailed 17-7 late in the first half after the hosts got off to a flying start with tries to Rob Thompson, Junior Laloifi and Faalelei Sione.
However, Otago struck back through an improvised effort by Jona Nareki and Naulia Dawai.
After Nareki was given the ball off a horror lineout in his own half, the winger broke through Manawatu's broken defensive line and made his way for the try line.
However, with James Tofa set to stop him, Nareki found support in Dawai who managed to beat Laloifi to the line to score.
It sparked an impressive second half for Otago, with Michael Collins, Matt Whaanga, Donald Brighouse and Melani Matavao all crossing the chalk to score.
With the win, Otago earn their first victory of their 2018 campaign to sit third in the Championship above Manawatu, who take their second loss of the year.
