Three people flee Christchurch crash, while fourth suffers critical injuries - police

Police are emphasising today the importance of remaining at the scene of a crash after three people left behind their critically injured mate this morning.

Authorities say the trio fled after a single-vehicle crash in Christchurch at around 6am. They later returned to the scene and spoke with officers, police said.  

The person who was left behind remains in critical condition. 

The Serious Crash Unit is at the scene investigating the incident, which took place on Pages Road, Wainon. Traffic has been diverted through Baffin Street and Ottawa Road.
