Woman critical after being hit by truck on busy Auckland road

A woman is in a critical condition after being hit by a truck on St Lukes Road in central Auckland.

Police said the incident took place about 9.20am near the mall, and the woman has been taken to hospital.

Diversions are in place on the busy street, and the east-bound side of the road is down to one lane.

Police advice people to avoid the area.

The serious crash unit is investigating.
