One former Auckland woman says she’s landed her dream job in the regions - with an Auckland salary to sweeten the deal.

Ms Goodall is the general manager at Forgotten World Adventures, a sight-seeing tour agency in Taumarunui which is home to 142 kilometres of decommissioned rail lines.

"I haven't stopped smiling since I arrived in Taumarunui. I actually get to do the job I love in an area I want to be," Ms Goodall said.

Ms Goodall was hired after a recruitment saga lasting 12 months.

"She ticked all the boxes, she had international tourism experience, she had management experience and she was a lovely person," Rachel Balme, the co-owner of Forgotten World Adventures, said.

"For me, I don't think it's actually in the middle of nowhere. It's the central place of everywhere as far as I am concerned. One hour, 20 minutes [and] minutes you have Taupo; two hours Rotorua; 30 minutes to the ski fields," Ms Goodall said.

She says the country "needs people living in the regions".

"There's a lot of great stuff going on in the regional areas. Jump on the job page, see what's out there, come and experience it.

"I'm in a great town, with an amazing job and I'm living in an adventure playground."
