The Warriors chief executive is keen to make his new owners' first game since taking over the club a memorable one, and he's hoping 20,000 fans will make it happen.

Cameron George walked around an Auckland mall today handing out free tickets to rally support for this weekend's NRL clash against Benji Marshall and the West Tigers at Mount Smart Stadium - the first game since Cameron McGregor and Mark Robinson took over the club from former owner Eric Watson.

"We really want to celebrate the new ownership this weekend," he said.

"Hopefully we get a really big crowd for this week... we've averaged 18,500 people per game this year and that's well and truly up on last year and the last few years."

George emphasised the club and the players are thankful to the loyal fans who have stuck by the club over the years but he's just as happy to welcome newcomers in 2018.

"We've got this so-called bandwagon - fill it up, I say," he said.

"It's an atmosphere the NRL don't experience much in Australia and it's quite unique to Mount Smart and our players love it."

The Warriors face off against the Tigers at 7:30pm on Saturday night.
