A family in Auckland say they made an unsavoury discovery as they were sharing a bag of Bluebird chips recently.
After noticing an inedible object in his mouth Eldhose Varghse told the NZ Herald he spat a mouthful of chips out and found that there was some twisted metal wire embedded in two of the chips.
Mr Varghse says he was most concerned for his young son that was also enjoying the chips.
"I was really surprised, but was most concerned for my three-year-old son, who was eating from the same packet," he said.
The concerned father quickly made his son spit out his chips as well, but they didn't find any more metal.
"Luckily he hadn't bitten into or swallowed any metal. If something went wrong, and he had swallowed that chip, I just can't imagine that."
An image supplied to the NZ Herald shows the offending piece of metal that was claimed to be found in the bag of Delisio fine sea salt Bluebird chips.
After contacting Bluebird about the incident the family was sent a courier bag to return the chips for investigation and a $20 voucher along with an apology letter.
Mr Varghse says he wasn't happy with the voucher and wanted a more sincere apology instead.
