A former Mississippi teacher accused of having a sexual relationship with one of her students has run away with him, prompting a state-wide manhunt.
Nicole Jackson, 30, and her former student 16-year-old Oscar O'Neal are being hunted by police after allegedly fleeing the town of Hattiesburg together.
Jackson has been under investigation since mid-March when they received a tip that she was in a sexual relationship with O'Neal.
Shortly after the teacher quit her job at Earl Travillion Attendance Centre then turned herself in to police on April 10.
She was released on bail after being charged with sexual battery by a person in a position of trust.
On April 30 O'Neal was reported as missing by his parents who reported he is in the company of his former teacher.
The father of the missing teenager issued a plea on Facebook for help to find the pair.
"If u see my son please contact me or my wife Lisa O'Neal. We got the police involved," he wrote on April 30.
Although the 16-year-old O'Neal is technically of the age of legal consent in Mississippi, state law forbids a person in authority from engaging in sexual activity with a person under the age of 18.
