If you've got kids, you'll know the book series Diary of a Wimpy Kid is a huge hit, being translated into 56 languages.

On Tuesday, over 1000 Kiwi fans packed out Auckland's Aotea Centre to see the author.

That man, Jeff Kinney always had a dream to be a newspaper cartoonist.

When he failed, he created a franchise that took him around the world.

Seven Sharp's Tim Wilson tells the tale.
