The woman in hospital is well enough to answer questions from police, and she is assisting them with their investigation.

Police say the shooting was likely a targeted attack, with Detective Inspector Faa Va'aelua saying in a statement "we are confident that this is not a random incident".

Greenwood Road is a semi-industrial area where hoons and rubbish dumpers often congregate, locals told 1 NEWS.

Other locals have reported online seeing people in the area in what looked to be suspicious circumstances.
