A safari park owner in South Africa is recovering in hospital after surviving a terrifying attack by a male lion yesterday.
News24 reports the attack took place at the Thabazimbi game reserve in the northern province of Limpopo and that the man, named by The Sun as Mike Hodge, suffered serious injuries to his neck and jaw.
Onlookers at the park captured video of the incident taking place in front of them, and can be heard desperately calling for help.
Gunshots are heard as they try scare the lion away from Mr Hodge, who was left lying on the ground.
The attack comes after a 22-year-old woman was killed by a lion at another park in South Africa on February 27.
A request for comment from the sanctuary made by News24 was not answered.
The lion was reportedly killed following the incident.
