Watch: Drivers negotiate road turned into river after heavy rain causes flooding north of Auckland

April 30, 2018

Heavy rain has caused flooding just north of Auckland, with Snells Beach residents forced to drive through roads resembling rivers after the deluge.

A Fire and Emergency Spokesperson has confirmed to 1 NEWS that there has been some flooding in Snells Beach after heavy rain this afternoon.

Fire services say they have so far attended two flooding related call outs in Snells Beach.

Video from a Snells Beach road next to a carpark shows motorists braving the conditions as water cascades over their vehicles on the flooded road.

Steven Baker, who captured the footage around 3:30pm, told 1 NEWS: "The car park was completely flooded and water was pouring out all over the road."

Beau Rogers said he’d never witnessed anything like yesterday’s flooding in seven years living in Rotorua. (Source: Other)

Last night a state of emergency was declared in Rotorua after widespread flooding in the area due to adverse weather.
