Former Chiefs assistant coach Kieran Keane is reportedly set to depart from Irish club Connacht after one year of coaching.

Keane, 64, was contracted to coach the side for three years after he took over the role from former Blues coach Pat Lam last year.

The Irish Independent reports that Connacht is already looking for a replacement.

Connacht has not released any statement yet about the Kiwi coach's position, but they are expected to make an announcement soon.

The Irish club finished their Pro 14 season second to last in their conference with seven wins and 14 losses.

Connacht made the quarter-finals of Europe's second division competition and were beaten at home in Galway by Gloucester.

Keane was the Chiefs assistant coach from 2016-2017 and was an assistant to Jamie Joseph at the Highlanders during 2011-2012.

He also coached the Tasman Makos in the National Provincial Competition.

The Kiwi coach played six matches for the All Blacks but no Tests.
