Brumbies winger Chance Peni has been slapped with a five-week ban from Super Rugby, following his shocking tackle on Crusaders and All Blacks wing Israel Dagg.
The tackle that came in the 20th minute of the Crusaders' 21-8 win left Dagg with both a concussion and a knee injury, placing his participation in the All Blacks' June series with France in serious doubt.
Referee Jaco Peyper initially handed Peni a yellow card for the tackle, however SANZAAR have subsequently deemed the incident to meet the threshold for a red card.
Peni pleaded guilty to the charge, and will now spend the next five weeks on the sideline, suspended until June 17.
