Auckland Council to debate pets on public transport, after Wellington makes the move

Auckland Council will be considering if they will allow pets on public transport, following a move taken by the Greater Wellington Regional Council recently to allow domestic pets on trains and buses.

Auckland Councillor Cathy Casey put forward a motion to let pets travel on public transport, and the Planning Committee will meet tomorrow to debate the issue.

If Ms Casey's motion is successful, Auckland Transport will need to look at its policies around how pets can travel safely and consistently on buses and trains.

Manukau ward councillor Efeso Collins told the NZ Herlad it would be a "welcome and overdue move".
