Highlanders' star first-five Lima Sopoaga landed a 40 metre penalty kick at the death to seal a 29-28 win for his team against the Bulls in Pretoria this morning.
In the final minute of the match the Bulls were penalised for an offside play, Sopoaga stepped up and converted the penalty putting his side in prime position in the New Zealand Super Rugby conference ladder.
The Bulls thought they had the match in the bag after their centre Jesse Kriel powered over five minutes earlier.
Sopoaga landed five penalties and converted two conversions in the match.
Aaron Smith scored the Highlanders only try in the first spell with Fletcher Smith scoring a long range stunner straight after the break, combining with the other Smith's (Aaron and Ben Smith) in his team.
The Highlanders now travel to Durban where they will face the Sharks next Sunday.
