Sophie Pascoe named flag bearer for NZ's Gold Coast Commonwealth Games team

Kiwi Paralympic swimmer Sophie Pascoe has been named flag bearer of New Zealand's Commonwealth Games team for tomorrow's opening ceremony on the Gold Coast.

The 25-year-old Pascoe is New Zealand's most successful Paralympian ever, with nine gold and six silver medals.

She will lead New Zealand's contingent of 253 athletes, competing across 17 sports, into the opening ceremony at Gold Coast's Carrara Stadium tomorrow night.

Coverage of the 2018 Commonwealth Games opening ceremony will begin on TVNZ 1 at 10pm tomorrow night and on the TVNZ website.

Pascoe won two gold medals at the 2014 Glasgow Commonwealth Games.

She competes in freestyle, backstroke and butterfly, breaststroke, and the individual medley in the pool.
