Shocking video showing police beating a disability pensioner with a baton and punching him in his own front yard is being investigated by the state's Anti Corruption Commission and the police themselves.
The vision caught on CCTV cameras on the man's house last September has been obtained by Australia's Fairfax Media and published today.
Police were responding to a call from the man's psychologist about his worsening mental health.
Police can be heard trying to persuade the man named John to come out of the house, but he refuses and they force entry.
The man is pulled outside to his front lawn and pinned to the ground by officers as one hits him repeatedly on the legs with a baton
"You f***ing idiot," another officer yells, kneeling on the man and punching him in the back.
This officer then pepper sprays the man in the face, asking, "You like that? You like that? Smells good, doesn't it?"
"Ah! My back!" the man complains.
"My back. My eyes."
An officer then grabs a garden hose and sprays the man in the face with high pressure water.
He is eventually handcuffed and sits up.
The footage ha sparked accusations of police brutality.
Victoria Police said in a statement the police department "has no tolerance for poor behaviour within its ranks".
"We want people to have absolute confidence that when they make a complaint against police it will be investigated thoroughly and with integrity.
"We will examine carefully any new evidence contained within reports. If matters need to be revisited then that is what will occur."
