Many Easter Sunday church services have been delayed, but there is no shortage of prayers for Joseph Parker as Samoan New Zealanders rally together to support the Kiwi heavyweight in his fight with Anthony Joshua tomorrow morning.
South Auckland suburb Mangere, where Parker grew up, is doing everything it can for one of its favourite sons with Minister for Pacific Peoples Aupito William Sio one of many locals right behind Parker.
He is a son of ours but he’s also a son of Aotearoa and a son of the Pacific so we want him to feel that we're very proud that he's reached the crowning point of his career.
Like so many others, nothing will drag Mr Sio away from the fight.
"I already booked the fight, if I was in opposition I would be there watching that fight but it's a bit hard being in government to get away," Mr Sio said.
Joshua weighed in this morning (NZ time) at 109 kg with Parker weighing in at 107 kg.
The winner of tomorrow's fight will walk away with the WBA. IBF, IBO and WBO heavyweight belts.
