Orlando nightclub shooter's wife found not guilty of helping husbands attack

March 31, 2018

The widow of the gunman who slaughtered 49 people at an Orlando nightclub was acquitted Friday of lying to the FBI and helping her husband plan the 2016 attack, ending the government's two-year effort to hold someone accountable.

Noor Salman, 31, sobbed with joy upon hearing the jury's verdict of not guilty of obstruction and providing material support to a terrorist organization, charges that could have brought life in prison.

Her family gasped each time the words "not guilty" were pronounced.

After the verdict, family spokesperson Susan Clary said the family was grateful for the work of the jury, she said they were "grateful for their verdict today. The family is elated."
