Air New Zealand have made a cheeky offer to help Steve Smith escape the heat of fans back home after his involvement in the ball tampering scandal by proposing to fly the disgraced former captain to come and watch the Black Caps.
Smith, David Warner and Cameron Bancroft make their way back to Australia today after being banned for their roles in the saga, but the Kiwi airline has offered to help them "escape the heat" by heading a little further south where it's "a little cooler".
Air NZ released a cheeky video on their Twitter account this morning inviting Smith, along with Warner and Bancroft, to visit the South Island to watch some "(legal) swing bowling" when the Black Caps take on England in the second Test in Christchurch starting Friday.
"Hey Steve, we hear you're heading home for some time off," the video starts.
"While you've been a naughty boy, our boys have been doing rather nicely. This Friday, we're taking on the poms again, in Christchurch. How about a master class in (legal) swing bowling?
"Oh, also. It's a little cooler down south. So it might be a nice way for you to escape the heat back home. David [Warner] and Cameron [Bancroft] are welcome too.
"Anyway, offer's there."
The Black Caps bowling unit is riding on a high after they dismantled the English line up at Eden Park last week, bowling them out for 58 last Thursday to effectively give the Kiwis the win and a 1-0 lead in the two match series.
