A Grand Old Lady of Auckland's nightlife is celebrating her 70th birthday tonight.
The iconic White Lady burger bar has been serving up fast food in downtown Auckland since 1948.
It's been been owned by the same Kiwi family for most of that time, and across those seven decades been shut only one solitary day.
"The power went out and it happened on a Friday night," owner Peter Washer says.
But, the White Lady did stay open during the five-week 1998 Auckland blackout.
"Us and Sky City were the only places by Saturday night who were still operating."
With celebrations underway on Fort St, Seven Sharp's Lucas de Jong dropped down to grab a bite.
