Residents in America's southwest and northern Mexico have been intrigued by the sight of what looks like strange, glowing cloud swirling in the sky.
TV channel FOX 10 Phoenix had reports of the "cloud" from people in Phoenix and other areas including San Diego, California, and Mexico's Baja California state on Monday night local time.
An official at the US National Weather Service told Fox the "cloud" looked very reminiscent of rocket and missile exhaust that is high in the atmosphere.
The NWS had seen similar formations before that were associated with activity at the White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico and Vandenberg Air Force Base in California.
But the weather experts had no authoritative explanation on the exact nature of the "cloud".
