Watch: CCTV busts masked burglars ramming stolen car through Dunedin liquor store doors

Blundering masked thieves have been caught on security camera ramming a stolen car thorough the doors of a Dunedin liquor store, stealing packs of cigarettes and causing $15,000 of damage.

CCTV footage of the March 21 robbery at Super Liquor store in Cumberland St, Dunedin, was posted to the Southern District Police Facebook page today.

The offender, or offenders, gained entry to the store by driving a stolen car into a set of double doors taking a number of packets of cigarettes before leaving in the stolen car.

Police say the car had been taken from outside a nearby student flat, was later found burned out at a quarry above Port Chalmers.

Police are hoping to hear from anyone who has been offered cigarettes for sale since 21 March, or anyone with information on the burglary.
