A US family in the Louisiana town of Ponchatoula have used a very unusual method to reveal the gender of their baby to family members - an enormous alligator chomping on a jelly-filled watermelon.
Proud grandmother Melody Kliebert posted a video of the event on Facebook on Sunday, showing her son Mike Kliebert pulling open the reptile's mouth and throwing in the melon.
Mr Kliebert goes by the title of T-Mike the Gator King', US ABC reports, and he is an alligator wrangler, trainer and tour guide.
Family and friends are gathered around as Mr Klibert encourages the animal to open its powerful jaws, drops in the melon and with a satisfying crunch, blue goo flies out of its mouth - meaning the baby will be a boy.
Gender reveal ceremonies are in vogue with some at the moment, with others choosing to do burnouts in high-powered cars to reveal the gender of their baby.
After the ceremony gained media attention, Mr Kliebert posted on his Facebook page that none of the people present were in danger, as he has considerable experience controlling alligators.
"I respect animals and understand alligators cause it's my livelihood," he wrote.
"I am having a baby boy and he will see this awesome gender reveal.
"People are jealous and I guess they assume they know it all ... God bless all the haters."
