Australian cricket coach Darren Lehmann is expected to step down from his role with the team in the wake of the ongoing ball tampering scandal - Sydney's Daily Telegraph has reported.
On the third day of the third Test match between Australia and South Africa in Cape Town, Australia's Cameron Bancroft was caught trying to manipulate the condition of the ball, before it was revealed that the incident was a ploy from the Australian leadership group - led by captain Steve Smith and several other senior players.
Cricket Australia CEO James Sutherland is currently en route to South Africa, expected to meet with Lehmann, Smith, Bancroft and vice-captain David Warner to determine their future's within the Australian side.
Sources within Cricket Australia have told the Daily Telegraph that they expect Lehmann to tender his resignation, becoming the first head to roll for the scandal, hence Sutherland's departure to South Africa.
Lehmann has been in charge of Australia for five years, winning two Ashes series as well as the 2015 Cricket World Cup.
