Lucky Secret Santa recipient bags special APEC pin from Jacinda Ardern

December 20, 2017

The Prime Minister's Secret Santa recipient looks to have been given an incredibly special gift, picking up the distinctive APEC leader's pin from her first overseas trip as the leader of New Zealand.

Rebecca Terry tweeted her gift this morning, which consisted of the story book Good Night Stories for Rebel Girls with the inscription: "This book belongs to: Two amazing girls who can do anything they set their minds to", for Ms Terry's daughters.

She was given a Lush body cream and soap, and a rare APEC pin which is given to honoured guests of the forum.

APEC is the yearly economic forum where world leaders meet, including US President Donald Trump and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

According to Vietnam Economic Times, the gold badge is an image of the lotus flower. The leaders and distinguished guests were given the brooch with one of four different Swarovski stones.

Ms Terry was also gifted a card that read: "I really hope your girls like this book, and that you get some time to yourself and some R&R. I also travel quite a bit for the job I do, so I've included a wee memento from my last trip."

"Not too many people have these, but I wanted to share mine."

Ms Ardern attended APEC in Vietnam at the beginning of November with deputy PM Winston Peters and MP David Parker.
