A man has been rescued in the Marlborough Sounds after falling while tramping with an Outward Bound group.
The 22-year-old Wellington man slipped and fell while ascending the high tops above Kaiuma Saddle near Nydia Bay shortly before 1pm today, says the Nelson Marlborough Rescue Helicopter.
He was initially treated by the group leaders who then called for help.
The rescue helicopter winched the on-board medic down to the group in dense bush high on the ridgeline.
The injured man was winched on-board the helicopter and flown to Wairau Hospital for further care.
Outward Bound New Zealand is located at Anakiwa on the shores of Queen Charlotte Sound.
Yesterday, the Nelson Marlborough Rescue Helicopter also used a winch to rescue a 32-year-old Wellington man who had fallen on the isolated Mt Stokes track in the outer Marlborough Sound and also a 67-year-old Wellington man who fell from rocks in remote Titirangi Bay.
