Fans of the Toa Samoa and Tongan rugby league teams have been involved in a mass brawl, causing chaos on a South Auckland street.
Shocking footage of the incident has been posted to Facebook, with the two sets of fans clashing ahead of the Rugby League World Cup game between the two island nations in Hamilton on Sunday.
One video, posted on Facebook yesterday afternoon, shows a group of young men brawling in the streets near the the corner of Great South Road and Avenue Road, Otahuhu.
The young men are holding Samoan and Tongan flags, trading blows as onlookers can be heard screaming in the background.
Police say they are aware of the celebrations by Tongan league fans in Auckland after a first up win by Tonga over Scotland on Sunday night, but they have yet to comment on the Facebook videos showing the brawl.
Toa Samoa and Tonga square off at Waikato Stadium, 7:30pm on Sunday, where it will be hoped scenes like the ones witnessed in Auckland are not repeated.
