Rugby League World Cup officials are investigating an incident that saw Italian star James Tedesco allegedly one-punched by a teammate on Sunday night, an Australian media outlet has claimed.
Following Italy's 36-12 loss to Ireland, the Azzuri are believed to have been commiserating at the Cairns nightclub Pier Bar, Seven News reports.
It is alleged that Tedesco was set upon by prop Shannon Wakeman, who claims that the Sydney Roosters star attempted to proposition his girlfriend, leading to an all-in melee within the Italian camp.
Tedesco denies the claims, with Wakeman's future with the Italian side now in doubt for the remainder of the Rugby League World Cup.
