The All Whites are due for a huge financial windfall having made it to the intercontinental play-off against Peru for a spot in next year's World Cup in Russia.

Thanks to a deal negotiated with New Zealand Football back in 2014, a financial incentive of $1 million awaits the players after the first leg against Peru.

The deal meant that the players association contributed $500,000 out of their own earnings in order to fund travel to and from All Whites fixtures over a three year period, in exchange for a financial boost should the team reach the intercontinental play-off.

The funds that the players association will receive will help fund future All Whites expenses leading into the qualification period for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

In a statement, defender Andrew Durante said that the news was great for the current playing squad.

"It's a big deal for us" said Durante.

"Having the opportunity to guarantee this money for the team's future has been a big incentive for us in qualifying for the play-off. And I think it's a great thing for the fans to know that when they come to support us this time, they are helping us for the next time as well."

The All Whites face Peru in the first leg of their intercontinental play-off at Wellington's Westpac Stadium on November 11, before the return leg in the Peruvian capital Lima on November 16.
