Gerard Beale's World Cup is all but over after Kiwis coach David Kidwell confirmed last night team management would look to replace the injured half after he suffered a suspected broken ankle in last night's win over Samoa.
Beale was transported from the field immediately to hospital after the horrific incident in the 38-8 win at Mount Smart Stadium with support from his family as well as Kiwis teammate Jason Nightingale.
Kidwell said after the match the entire ordeal was still "pretty raw".
"We'll be taking the win in but we'll be sitting down and look at who we can replace him with.
"We make the decisions not just off the top of my head - we've got to make sure the person we bring in is the right fit for the Kiwis."
The Kiwis' next World Cup match is against Scotland on Saturday 4 November at 5pm NZT in Christchurch.
