A hang glider has crashed on the Port Hills above Christchurch this afternoon.

A 47-year-old man was injured after crashing on the Port Hills above Christchurch this afternoon. (Source: Other)

The alarm was raised just before 2pm with units from Police, Fire, and St John all attending.

The incident is understood to have taken place around the Summit Road area near the Sign of the Bellbird.

A 47-year-old man was injured and is in a stable condition.

The Westpac Rescue Helicopter has also been called to the incident and will transport the patient to hospital.
