Melbourne Victory footballer Mitch Austin has suffered a panic attack live on air, walking out of an ABC TV interview mid-stream this morning.
The antics, which left Breakfast sports host Georgie Tunny completely non-plussed, came after Austin's confusing response to a relatively simple line of questioning.
"You're kicking off the season in a pretty difficult fashion," Tunny said.
"It's the grand final replay on Saturday night, Melbourne Victory against the Sky Blues.
"How do the club, the players, yourself even, deal with the fallout from last season's grand final?"
A nervy Austin responded it would be "pretty tough", then asked if he could go to the bathroom.
"Yeah, um, obviously we've gotta... sorry, I just need to go to the toilet," Austin said.
A stunned Tunny, lost at what to do, pushed the show back to anchor hosts Paul Kennedy and Virginia Trioli.
As they were speaking, a panicked Austin just got up and left, leaving Kennedy to tell viewers: "He'll be OK and we'll catch up with the A-League news a little bit later on."
The opening round of the A-league kicks off this weekend with The Wellington Phoenix at home to Adelaide on Sunday.
