New photos: Tunnels under Auckland's Albert Street begin to take shape

October 3, 2017

The City Rail Link organisation has released new photos showing the progress of underground tunnels being constructed for Auckland's new rail connection.

The images show the beginnings of two tunnels at the Commercial Bay site near Britomart Station in the CBD.

This part of the CRL will be connected to Aotea Station via a cut-and-cover tunnel underneath Hobson Street.

It is due for completion in 2023 and will be composed of about 3.5km of new underground rail lines.

Taxpayers are going to pay half the cost of Auckland's multi-billion dollar City Rail Link. (Source: Other)
