North Harbour and former Melbourne Storm star Matt Duffie has spoken about helping his former NRL side discover their rising talent - and leading try scorer - Suliasi Vunivalu.
Vunivalu, 21, has shone for the Storm this season en route to tonight's grand final, scoring 22 times - however it was their former player Duffie that first alerted them to the winger's talent as a schoolboy.
"I watched St Kents' 1st XV play at AAMI Park in about 2013, the recruit manager asked me after the game 'is there anyone you think is good?" Duffie told 1 NEWS.
"I heard this kid (Vunivalu) was 14-years-old and absolutely smashing everyone, and I said 'jeez that winger was good'."
"Then we ended up signing him, and as the story goes, he plays in my position and I got booted out by him. He took my spot," Duffy laughed.
