See live updates of the debate here.
ACT leader David Seymour, Green Party co-leader Chlöe Swarbrick, New Zealand First leader Winston Peters, Te Pāti Māori co-leader Rawiri Waititi and Opportunity leader Qiulae Wong took part.
A combination of those parties is likely to be needed for either Labour or National to form a government after the November 7 election.
The latest 1News Verian poll was released this evening with the Greens still in a strong position and Opportunity heading to Parliament if the results are repeated on November 7.
The Multi-Party Debate was on TVNZ 1, TVNZ+ and 1News.co.nz from 7-8.30pm followed by half an hour of analysis.
